With BILLmanager, you can sell traffic of dedicated servers as a separate service. To do so, install the module "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". The new service "Bandwidth of dedicated servers" will be available in the billing system. Create a tariff if this type and configure its add-ons.

Note:

This feature is not available in BILLmanager 6 (out of date).

How to start selling traffic

Step 1. Install the module

  1. Go to Integration → Modules. 
  2. Install the module "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". 
  3. Wait when the installation is completed. BILLmanager will add the new product type "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". 

Step 2. Add a processing module

  1. Go to Integration → Processing modules → Add. 
  2. Select the type "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". 
  3. Add the module "Without processing". 
  4. There are no integration settings for this module. Click on Next to proceed to the next step.
  5. Select a Data center. 
  6. Enter the Name of the processing module.
  7. Select a Department that will handle the tasks. 
  8. Specify the Sorting order. 
  9. Click on Finish to create the Processing module. 

Step 3. Create a tariff plan

  1. Go to Products → Tariff plans → Add. 
  2. Select the type "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". 
  3. Connect the Processing module that you have created. 
  4. Enter other parameters. For more information please refer to the article How to create and configure a tariff plan. 

Step 4. Configure tariff add-ons

  1. Go to Products → Tariff plans → select the created tariff plan → Config; 
  2. Create a new add-on or Edit the existing one. For more information please refer to the article Tariff configuration details. 

How it works

To allow clients to purchase bandwidth, he should have active dedicated servers ordered in the billing system. On the tariff order form, a client selects the dedicated servers associated with the service. 

Note:

Bandwidth as a service can be connected only to the servers managed by DCImanager 5 or DCImanager 6. 

BILLmanager sets the price 0 euro per month for the add-on "Traffic". The changes are displayed in Products/Services → Dedicated servers → select a server → Config. If a special price is set for the server traffic, BILLmanager won't save these settings.

Note:

BILLmanager sets the special bandwidth price only for the selected servers. 

After activation, bandwidth statistics collection is performed by the service type "Bandwidth of dedicated servers", rather than by the service "Dedicated server". The following add-ons are supported (their internal names are given in brackets): 

  • Incoming bandwidth (in);
  • Outgoing bandwidth (out);
  • Total bandwidth (bandwidth);
  • Burstable out (burst_in_day); 
  • Burstable in (burst_out_day).

If the service" Bandwidth of dedicated servers" is deleted or suspended, BILLmanager will delete the special price for the add-on "Traffic". The add-on prices will correspond to the settings of the dedicated server tariff plan. Besides, BILLmanager will collect bandwidth usage statistics by the service "Dedicated server" rather than by "Traffic" with the type "Bandwidth of dedicated servers". 

BILLmanager receives bandwidth usage statistics once in 24 hours. That's why BILLmanager moves between services the whole statistics collected over 24 hours regardless of the service activation or suspension time.
