A server is a basic unit which the control panel works with. DCImanager allows you to keep a tab on the servers, manage their state and connection state.   

This article describes the possibilities of server management by DCImanager.

Server locking


Click on Lock to prevent operations on the server. The panel will disconnect the switch operations but the server power will not be turned off. The Reboot, On, Off, Operations, Cancel, IP addresses buttons will become unavailable. The server owner will also be unable to perform any operations on the server.

Click on Unlock to call off the server locking and turn on all server connections to the switches.

Server operations


Click on Operations to start an operation on a server.

  • Install OS from template — select the OS that will be installed on a server. Learn more in OS installation.
  • Upload from ISO-image — a server will be loaded from ISO-image;
  • Upload the recovery template — the recovery mode is loaded on a server. Learn more in Recovery mode;
  • Run diagnostics — the server diagnostics mode is loaded on a server. Learn more in Server diagnostics mode.

OS installation

Select:

  • Operation type — "Install OS from template";
  •  — an operating system you want to install on a server;
  • Hostname — domain name;
  • Password;
  • Confirmation;
  • Recipe — execute the selected recipe (script) after OS installation. Learn more in Recipes;
  • RAID software — it will be configured during OS deployment. A list of available RAIDs depends on OS templates and the number of similar disks installed successively on the server. Learn more in Software RAID;
  • Inform upon completion — select the checkbox if you want to be informed when the operation is completed or the server becomes accessible via SSH.

Upload from ISO-image

Select:

  • Operation type — "Upload from ISO-image";
  • Upload from ISO-image — ISO-image.

Upload the recovery template

Select:

  • Operation type — "Upload the recovery template";
  • IP address  — an address that will be used for booting;
  • Upload the recovery template — a recovery template that you want to run on a server;
  • Password;
  • Confirmation;
  • Inform upon completion — select the checkbox if you want to be informed when the operation is completed or the server becomes accessible via SSH.

Run diagnostics

Select:

  • Operation type — "Run diagnostics";
  • Run diagnostics — diagnostics template;
  • Clear disks — all your hard drives will be cleaned up while running diagnostics. Pay attention that diagnostics templates must support this feature;
  • Full hard drive erase — operation will zero out the entire disk as opposed to a common clear procedure with only the first 512 bytes zeroedAll your hard drives will be cleaned up. This process may take several hours depending on your hard drive speed and size. This feature is accessible only if "Clear disks" is selected;
  • Inform upon completion — select the checkbox if you want to be informed when the operation is completed or the server becomes accessible via SSH.
