A cluster is a group of servers with virtual machines running on them. Cluster nodes are physical servers. Before adding a cluster node, please make sure that the server is ready to operate as a cluster node in accordance with the article Cluster node configuration.

This article describes how to add a new cluster node.

Note

If your servers are located in Hetzner data-center, make additional settings before adding a node.

Note

Before connecting the cluster node, we recommend that you disable the remotetmp parameter in the control panel configuration file. In the current version of VMmanager, using this parameter may cause an error when adding a cluster node.

Navigate to Cluster settings → Cluster nodes→ Add.

  • Name — enter a name for the cluster node;
  • IP address — server IP address;
  • ihttpd port — port to connect to ihttpd;
  • Has root password — select this check box to allow authentication with the root password;
  • Password — enter the root password;
    • — enter the SSH-key to connect to the server;
  • VM limit — the maximum number of virtual machines that can run on the servers;
  • Add new VM:
    • allowed;
    • deny for new  — you cannot create  a new virtual machine on this cluster node;
    • deny for all— virtual machines cannot be automatically created on this cluster node.
  • Notes — additional information that will be displayed in the Status column in the list of cluster nodes.

When adding a new server into the cluster, the VMmanager package (vmmanager-kvm-pkg-vmnode) and virtualization packages qemu-kvm and libvirt are installed.
