Website files

  To manage files and directories on the server with websites, you can use the Vepp file manager: go to Websites → menu   Settings  Website files. In the file manager you can:

  • upload files to the server via your web-browser; 
  • modify the file contents;
  • download files from the server via your browser; 
  • create new files and directories. 

E.g., to change the database connection settings for a CMS you simply need to open the Vepp file manager, find the file, and open its edit form.

The Vepp file manager delivers the following functions: 

  • the working area in the center of the page displays the contents of the selected directory. At the upper part of the working area, you can see the duplicating menu - the full path from the website root directory to the current one. To go to the previous level click on the name of the required directory.  To go to the next level, click on the name of the current directory and select the name of the required one; 
  • operations with files:
    • Copy — create a file or catalog copy in the selected directory. If the file with the specified name already exists in the selected directory, a numerical order will be added to its name. To re-write the file, enable the option Change the duplicated files;
    • Move — move the file from the current directory to the selected one. If the file with the specified name already exists in the selected directory, a numerical order will be added to its name.  To re-write the file, enable the option Change the duplicated files;
    • Rename — change the file name. If the file with the specified name already exists in the selected directory, a numerical order will be added to its name. Press Enter to save the name after it has been changed. To cancel the changes press Esc or click on any space outside the field;
    • Archive — add a file or directory to a ZIP, TAR or TGZ archive. The archive will be saved in the current directory;
    • Download — download the file through the browser to your computer; 
    • Delete — delete the file from the server after confirmation; 
  • group operations at the bottom of the page to perform an operation over several files.  This option is not accessible if the files are not selected or only one file is selected; 
  • the total number of files and directories in the current directory at the bottom of the working area. If you have selected several directories, Vepp will calculate the total number of the selected objects; 
  • a full path to the current directory on the server at the bottom of the working area.

Upload files to the server 


Perform the following steps to upload files to the server:

  1. Go to Websites → menu   Settings → Website files
  2. Go to the directory.
  3. Click on Upload at the top of the page and select the files you want to upload.
  4. To upload the file located on the remote server click onUpload by URL:
    1. Enter a new Name to rename the file;
    2. Enter the URL to the file. 
    3. Click on Upload
  5. If you have uploaded the archive, open the menu and click on Extract from archive.
  6. To rename the file, click on the pencil icon or open the file menu and click on Rename

Download a file from the server 


Perform the following steps: 

  1. Go to Websites → menu   Settings → Website files
  2. Go to the directory with the required file.
  3. Open the file menu and click on Download. The process will start immediately, no other actions are required. 
  4. To download files and directories check the corresponding boxes and click on Download in the group operation menu. The selected files will be added to the archive and downloaded to your computer.

Create a file or directory


To create a new object:

  1. Go to Websites → menu   Settings → Website files
  2. Go to the directory.
  3. Click on Create and select what you want to create: 
    • File — add a file with the specified name and format. If the file with the specified name already exists in the selected directory, a numerical order will be added to its name. 
    • Directory — add a new directory with the specified name.  If the directory with the specified name already exists in the selected directory, a numerical order will be added to its name. 
  4. Press Enter to save the object.
