DCImanager receives data from the server equipment. These data may differ from the information in the control panel.  DCImanager registers the difference:

  • no network connection — no connection to a switch or router;
  • no connection to a PDU;
  • MAC-address is found on another port  — the server MAC-address is found on the switch port connected to another server;
  • MAC-address of this server is specified for several switch ports;
  • MAC-address not found.

Note

The error "MAC-address not found" can occur on a running server if it cannot boot through the network or disk. Its network card becomes idle. As a result, the switch cannot define the server IP address, but the port is marked as connected physically.

Management options

Navigate to ToolsCorrect server connections.

Click on To server to navigate to Main menu → Servers → the selected server.

Click Details to see the details.

To fix the error "MAC-address is found on another port":

  • Click Add to add the port to server equipment that the MAC-address is assigned to, and delete it from the other connected device;
  • Click Correct to change the current port of the server that the MAC-address is assigned to, to the port of the other server and vice versa

Fix server connections automatically

This mechanism is based on MAC-addresses received from switches. The information from service ports and the ports with Trank mode, UpLink, and Service port check box selected is ignored. The operation starts every 30 minutes.  Navigate to  Settings→ Global settings → Fix server connections automatically.

The procedure includes the following steps

  1. If the server MAC-address is found on multiple ports, the connections (devices connected to the server) won't be fixed automatically.
  2. If the server MAC-address is found on another port:
    1. If that port is connected to a server, it will be deleted from the list of its connections.
    2. The foreign port is added in the list of server connections with the found MAC-address.
    3. If the server rack does not match the rack where the port device locates, the server rack will be changed into the rack of that device. The current server connections will be deleted from the PDU.
    4. If the server devices are connected to the port for which foreign MAC-addresses are found, such devices will be also deleted.
