Types of licenses

To be able to use an ISPsystem's control panel you need a license. We offer free and commercial licenses. You can purchase a license in our Client area my.ispsystem.com

Free license

A free version is an ideal solution for getting started with a control panel without any time or functional limitations. Only ISPmanager trial is available for 14 days.

Free license limitations:

  • ISPmanager is available only for 14 days, paid modules cannot be added;
  • BILLmanager allows creating 50 domains.
  • VMmanager allows creating 2 virtual machines with 5 nodes and allocating them 16GB of RAM.
  • DCImanager allows creating 5 servers.
  • IPmanager allows adding and manage 2048 IP addresses.
  • DNSmanager allows creating 50 domains.

How to activate a free license:

  1. Install a panel on the server.
  2. Open the panel in the browser https://<server IP address>:1500/mgrName
  3. In the form that will open select "Get a trial version".
  4. Enter your login and password from the Client area. if you don’t have an account, specify a random login and password, the system will register the account automatically.

If there is no option "Get a trial version" on the activation form, access the server with the panel and download the file license again:

/usr/local/mgr5/sbin/licctl fetch mgrName
 Where

mgrName — a short name of a control panel.

  • ispmgr — ISPmanager;
  • billmgr — BILLmanager;
  • vmmgr — VMmanager KVM or Cloud;
  • vemgr — VMmanager OVZ;
  • dcimgr — DCImanager;
  • ipmgr — IPmanager;
  • dnsmgr — DNSmanager.

When you see "Get a trial version" complete the steps above.

Commercial license

This type of license doesn't have any limitations. Users can obtain it for the following periods:

  • 1 month. The license can be used for one month and includes free upgrades. Users can renew their licenses.
  • 1 year. The license can be used for one year and includes free upgrades. Users can renew their licenses.

When the license expires, the web-interface of the control panel will be blocked and all the automatic operations won't be performed. The panel will get unblocked after the user renews the license.

How to upgrade from trial to a commercial version

There are two ways to upgrade a trial license:

  1. In the control panel interface.

Open the panel in the browser https://<IP-адрес сервера>:1500/mgrName and select "Purchase a license".  Specify the period and other parameters, and follow the instructions.

        2. In the Client area.

Go to the website of the company where you purchased the license or to the Client area ISPsystem.  Renew the trial (to do so, click on "Change the tariff plan") or order a new commercial license with the same IP address. All the settings that you made in the trial panel will remain after upgrading to the commercial version.

3. If the control panel still informs you that you are using a trial version:

a. Delete the license file:

rm -rf /usr/local/mgr5/etc/mgrName.lic

        b. Download the file again

/usr/local/mgr5/sbin/licctl fetch mgrName
 Where

mgrName is the short name of a control panel:

  • ispmgr — ISPmanager;
  • billmgr — BILLmanager;
  • vmmgr — VMmanager KVM or Cloud;
  • vemgr — VMmanager OVZ;
  • dcimgr — DCImanager;
  • ipmgr — IPmanager;
  • dnsmgr — DNSmanager.

How to change a commercial version to trial

  1. Log in to the ISPsystem Client area → "ISPsystem licenses"  and delete the trial license.
  2. Delete the license file:
rm -rf /usr/local/mgr5/etc/mgrName.lic

      3. Download the file:

/usr/local/mgr5/sbin/licctl fetch mgrName
 Where

mgrName — a short name of a control panel

  • ispmgr — ISPmanager;
  • billmgr — BILLmanager;
  • vmmgr — VMmanager KVM or Cloud;
  • vemgr — VMmanager OVZ;
  • dcimgr — DCImanager;
  • ipmgr — IPmanager;
  • dnsmgr — DNSmanager.

      4. Activate the trial version. Learn more in "To activate a free license".

Note

The panel won't work if the current state of the product exceeds the limits of a trial version. You need to activate a commercial version.
