The provider provides services to clients based on created tariffs. The client pays for the service at the cost of the tariff and receives a set of resources. These resources are included in the tariff and do not require additional fees. If the client needs a different tariff content, they can set up their own configuration. Additional resources are used for this purpose. By changing the amount or value of additional resources, the client changes the final cost of the service. The way that the cost will change is determined by the provider's pricing policy. For more information on tariff policy settings, see Creating and configuring a tariff.

How the service cost is formed

The final cost of the service determines how much the client will pay for the service. It consists of the base cost of the tariff plan, the cost of the resources included in the tariff, and the cost of additional resources.

The basic cost of the tariff includes:

  • Cost of the period of use — a fixed cost of purchasing the service for the period chosen by the client. The cost of each period is set by the provider.
  • Installation price — the amount deducted once when purchasing the service with a specific tariff.
  • Tax — the service cost tax. Affects the cost of the tariff only when it is not included into it. Read more in Taxes.

For example, the provider creates a Xeon E3 tariff to sell dedicated server services. The provider sets the prices for the period: €60 for a month, €180 for three months, €360 for six months and €720 for a year. The provider sets the installation price to zero and leaves the corresponding field blank. The tax is included in the price of the tariff and is not counted separately. Then the basic cost of the tariff per month will be €60.

The cost of tariff resources includes:

  • Cost of the period of use — a fixed cost of using the resource for the duration of the service. The cost of each period is set by the provider.
  • Cost of the value of each resource — the cost of the required quantity (or value) of the resource. Pricing rules are set by the provider. On the service order page, the client can adjust the cost of the resource by changing the amount (or values).
  • Excess cost — the cost of using the resource in excess of the established limit. This cost is calculated for each unit of excess. Used only for resources with the "Statistics-based” billing type. Does not affect the final cost when ordering the service. Additional funds will be deducted as the resource is used.

The Xeon E3 tariff includes particular resources: CPU, RAM, two hard drives, an operating system, a control panel license and IP addresses. The provider can set several values for each type of resource, and then set different tariff configurations. The client can then choose one of the recommended configurations or create their own. For example, a client sets up its configuration with the cost of resources for the period:

  • E3-1240-v6 CPU (4 cores 4.1GHz) — €35 per month;
  • 16 GB of RAM — €14 per month;
  • 240 GB hard drive — €14 per month;
  • 480 GB hard drive — €23 per month;
  • VMmanager 5 KVM license — €6 per month.

When the cost of resources is added to the basic cost of the tariff, the total cost is €152 per month.

If the client orders additional resources, their cost will be added to the total. For example, a client buys a virtual server for €9 per month under the VPS Basic tariff. The tariff resources include one public IP address and does not include a control panel. The client adds another IP address at a cost of €1 per month and the ISPmanager Lite 5 control panel at a cost of €4 per month. Now the final cost of the tariff is €14.

Change in service cost

To change the basic cost of an already created tariff, enter ProductsTariff plans → EditPrices per period. If you change the cost of the tariff, the current cost and expiry date of active services will not change. But renewals and new orders will be available at the new price.

To edit the cost of resources included in the tariff, enter ProductsTariffsConfigEdit. If you change the cost of resources included in the tariff, the cost of already connected services does not change. Only the price for the renewal of the service changes. New orders will be available at the current price. If the resource has several possible values, to edit the cost of each value, enter ProductsTariffsConfigPrices.

If the client wishes to change the value of any resource in the active service, the cost of the service will change depending on the pricing policy of the provider. For example, the client uses the dedicated server service at the tariff of Xeon 3.  The configuration created by the client includes a 240 GB hard drive. Over time, the client realizes that they need a larger hard drive. They choose a new value in the configuration - 480 GB and pay €9 extra. The client's account will be debited with the cost of the additional resource ordered for the remainder of the term of the service. This is determined by one of the provider's pricing policies, the "Additional resources ordering policy". For this tariff, the provider has set this policy to "Cost until service expires".  If the client chooses to cancel the additional resource, they will be refunded the cost of the additional resources deleted for the remaining term of the service. This is determined by the “Additional resources waiver policy". The provider has a "Refunds" policy for this tariff. For more information on tariff pricing policy settings, see Creating and configuring a tariff.

Changing the type of resource billing

You can change the type of billing for all resources. It determines how the resource is charged.

To edit the billing type, enter ProductsTariffsConfigEdit.

Changing the resource billing type does not disable the resource from active services and does not change the cost of the current service. When you change the type of billing, this resource may no longer appear in the client's configuration.

If you change the cost of the resource under different types of billing, the changes will not affect the already active services. But renewals and new orders will be available at the new price.

Read more about billing types and settings in Contents of a tariff.

Disable resources

To disable a resource, enter ProductsTariffsConfigDisable.

The resource will be disabled from active services and will not be included in the cost of newly ordered services.
